Barefoot luxury at it's best - shoes off and a walk to the river at Mana Sands.

At sunrise along the western edge of Mana Pools, the Zambezi shimmers like liquid gold—whispering ancient stories across the floodplain. On these quiet riverbanks, where elephants roam freely and hippos stir the shallows, Mana Sands was imagined as a place for those drawn to the untamed.

Hidden from the busier safari circuits, Mana Sands is a sanctuary few will ever stumble upon. It’s for the quiet explorers, the deep feelers—those who long for an authentic encounter with Africa in its rawest, most beautiful form. Beneath towering fig, mahogany, and albida trees, guests are invited into a world where nature still sets the pace, and every moment feels both humbling and extraordinary.

Mana Sands began as a shared dream between three couples, all with deep Zimbabwean roots and a longing to return to the magic of their childhoods—those golden days spent barefoot in the bush, wide-eyed and wonder-filled. They wanted to recreate, in some small way, the spirit of those early adventures: wild places, simple comforts, and the kind of joy that only comes from full immersion in nature.

The right location was everything. And tucked along the remote western edge of Mana Pools, bordering Little Ruckomechi, they found the perfect place—and Mana Sands was born.

More than a safari camp, it became a way home. A tribute to the past. A legacy for their children. And an invitation to others to experience the wild as they once did—with awe, freedom, and a sense of something timeless.

The vision behind Mana Sands is also deeply rooted in a respect for Zimbabwe’s guiding tradition—renowned across Africa for its depth, discipline, and deep reverence for the bush. It’s through the eyes of these expert guides that guests come to understand the quiet rhythms of life along the Zambezi, where lions, elephants, wild dogs, and countless birds still roam freely through one of Africa’s last true wildernesses.

At Mana Sands, canvas replaces concrete and the bush becomes your soundtrack. Nights are filled with starlight and distant calls. Days are shaped by walking safaris, river journeys, game drives, and still, reflective pauses. It’s a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel the land.

More than a destination, Mana Sands is a tribute—to Zimbabwe’s guides, to the wild spirit of Mana Pools, and to the stories only the wilderness can tell.
